Laboratory of Antimicrobial Peptides

Head of the laboratory: Bolatchiev Albert Dobayevich

The laboratory of antimicrobial peptides is a base for conducting pharmacological research in the field of the development of peptide compounds and microbiological studies of biological material containing microorganisms from humans, animals, and environmental objects.

The purpose of the laboratory is to search, develop and study peptide compounds with various types of pharmacological activity.

The objectives of the laboratory are:

– search and development of new peptide compounds.

– investigation of various types of pharmacological activity of peptide compounds.

– cultural studies of various types of pathogenic biological agents (hereinafter referred to as PBA) for the presence of microorganisms of different types in them.

– molecular genetic studies of various types of PBAs for the presence of microorganisms of different types in them.

– express indication and identification of microorganisms in the PBA.

LABORATORY FUNCTIONS

  • Search for new peptide compounds of various origins.

  • Development and de novo design of peptide compounds using bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and machine learning methods.

  • Screening of peptide compounds in silico, in vitro and in vivo.

  • Investigation of the pharmacological properties of peptide compounds in silico, in vitro and in vivo.

  • Microbiological research of experimental material.

  • Microbiological examination of biological materials coming from the structural divisions of the university, as well as from legal entities and individuals under a contract for the provision of paid medical services.

  • The study of the composition of the microbiota of the human population in the territory of the North Caucasus Federal District.

  • Identification of antibiotic-resistant strains of microorganisms.

  • Monitoring of strains of microorganisms in the Stavropol Territory.

  • To study the prospects for the introduction of modern microbiological research into practical healthcare.

  • The introduction of modern methods for the diagnosis and correction of imbalance of the microbiota of the human body.

  • Organization of educational and research work of students.
