University of Healthy Lifestyle

The Charter of the World Health Organization states that health is a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual, and social well–being, and not only the absence of diseases and physical defects.

Healthy lifestyle (HLS)— a human lifestyle aimed at preventing diseases and promoting health.

A healthy lifestyle appears as a specific form of expedient human activity – an activity aimed at preserving, strengthening and improving his health.

The relevance of a healthy lifestyle is caused by an increase and change in the nature of loads on the human body due to the complication of public life, an increase in the risks of man-made, environmental, psychological, political and military characters provoking negative shifts in health. In modern society, the tendency to lead a healthy lifestyle is increasing more and more. A healthy lifestyle appears as a specific form of expedient human activity – an activity aimed at preserving, strengthening and improving his health.

Taking into account the social purpose of youth as the main labor potential of Russian society, the preservation and strengthening of the health of student youth is of great medical, social and social importance. Insufficient health, neuropsychiatric overstrain, high academic workload, irrational lifestyle, economic and social insecurity of students lead to an increase in their morbidity, preventing them from acquiring professional knowledge.

In order to preserve and strengthen the health of students and staff of StSMU, to achieve better results in training specialists, a comprehensive program for the implementation of the basic principles of a healthy lifestyle is needed.

In accordance with the following regulatory documents regulating the work on disease prevention and promotion of a healthy lifestyle (Federal Law No. 323-FZ dated 11/21/2011 "On the Basics of Protecting the Health of Citizens in the Russian Federation", Federal Law of the Russian Federation No. 273-FZ "On Education" dated December 29, 2012), a program for the formation of healthy lifestyle skills has been developed lifestyle of students and university staff.


Aims and objectives of the program

The aim:

preserving and strengthening the health of students and staff by forming a healthy lifestyle in the university staff by creating conditions for strengthening and maintaining health in the process of study and work, forming a physical and medical culture of spending free time, eliminating bad habits, teaching students and staff knowledge, skills and healthy lifestyle skills.

The main objectives of the program are:

- formation of understanding among students and staff that caring for their health is the key to their success throughout the rest of their lives;

- the introduction of a cycle of educational and educational programs aimed at acquiring knowledge, skills and abilities of students and staff to preserve and strengthen health, and the formation of a health culture;

- creation of study and work conditions for students and employees that meet sanitary and hygienic requirements, optimal distribution of educational and work load;

- providing a complex of therapeutic and preventive measures aimed at improving the health of students and staff;

- implementation of a system of measures related to the improvement of catering,

healthy leisure and recreation;

- formation of a negative attitude towards the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs;

- providing psychological assistance accessible to students and staff;

- preparation and implementation of wellness programs, conducting training seminars and trainings for students and staff.

The program is implemented in the following priority areas:

I. Organizational and methodological work.

  1. Monitoring the attitude of students and staff of StSMU to bad habits.
  2. Organization of training seminars for curators of student groups.
  3. Creation of a video library and organization of viewing video materials in university buildings on the topic of healthy lifestyle.
  4. Organization of thematic exhibitions of literature from the collections of the scientific library of StSMU.
  5. Production of printed information materials for students and staff on the topic of a healthy lifestyle in the printing house of StSMU.
  6. Organization of consultations of doctors, lawyers, psychologists, psychotherapists on various issues of a healthy lifestyle.

II.Educational direction.

  1. Implementation of interdisciplinary programs for the formation of a healthy lifestyle
  2. Conducting training courses on drug addiction, substance abuse, alcoholism, and tobacco smoking prevention programs
  3. The work of sports clubs and sections (basketball, volleyball, dancing, chess, table tennis, badminton, swimming, gym work).

III. Massive work to improve the health of students and teachers.

  1.  The implementation of an annual medical examination of university staff and students.
  2. Conducting a series of lectures, round tables, seminars aimed at acquiring students' knowledge, skills and abilities to preserve and strengthen health
  3. To carry out medical and wellness activities, to form a healthy lifestyle with students and staff, taking into account the conditions of their studies, work and everyday life and the specifics of the work of an educational institution, a wellness and preventive complex (hereinafter referred to as the MIC) operates on the basis of StSMU. Provides qualified medical and preventive care to students and staff in accordance with the license for medical activities and in accordance with modern medical achievements.
  4. Conducting a large number of cultural, sports and physical culture and recreation events.
