Stavropol State Medical University is an active participant in the program of professional and research exchange of students of the National Union of Medical Students (NUMS), together with the International Federation of Associations of Medical Students (IFMSA).
Participation in the programs implies practical training in foreign university clinics under the guidance of teachers, as well as conducting scientific research for a period of 1 month on a pre-selected topic.
Since 2007, NUMS has also become a member of the International Association of Dental Students (IADS), which allowed students of the Faculty of STSMU to take an active part in the international exchange of students.
These programs give medical students the opportunity to get acquainted with the healthcare system in other countries and exchange knowledge, experience and ideas with their foreign colleagues. Students have the opportunity to spend 4 weeks abroad, undergoing internship at medical institutions. At the end of the training, an international certificate is issued. It is also a great opportunity to improve your communication skills in English, get to know the culture and feel part of the international medical community.
Types of exchanges:
There are 2 types of international student exchanges within IFMSA
Professional Exchange:
Bilateral exchange implies not only your internship abroad, but also your participation in the admission of a foreign student here in Stavropol. The fee varies depending on the selected country.
Unilateral exchange does not provide for the admission of a foreign student by you, therefore, in addition to the contribution (to the IFMSA budget), the receiving party requires payment for your accommodation and meals, which you pay upon arrival to the budget of the host organization.
Participation in a bilateral exchange, of course, causes more trouble, but significantly saves your money. And participation in a unilateral exchange increases your chances of getting to the country you want, because the conclusion of unilateral contracts is more profitable for the host party in countries popular among students.
Program objectives:
Brief description of the program:
Research Exchange
Scientific student exchanges, which are carried out on the principle of professional ones, with the only difference that you choose not so much the city you want to go to, as a serious scientific project at one of the universities of the world in which you are going to take a full part, whether it is working in a laboratory or on a clinical basis. For these purposes, IFMSA has a database on scientific projects, where you can choose exactly the project that is particularly interesting to the student. This makes it possible to use such experience more purposefully - after all, you can quite specifically participate in serious scientific work in the field of medical knowledge that interests you.
Participant requirements for all types of exchange:
Good level of English language proficiency (at least Intermediate level)
Good academic performance (according to the Dean's office)
Responsibility
Independence
Communication skills
Stages of participation: Participation in international student exchanges includes 4 stages:
1. English Language Test:
Grammar test
Medical part
Speaking
According to the test results, students participating in the exchange are determined. A higher score obtained during testing increases the student's chances of participating and the opportunity to choose the desired country. Academic performance (according to the dean's office) and active work with visiting students are also taken into account.
2. The choice of the country, payment of the fee and preparation of the necessary documents.
When deciding to participate in the exchange, the student and the organization sign an agreement that specifies the rights and obligations of the parties.
The main list of documents:
3. Submission of documents for obtaining a visa, depending on the country, and purchase of tickets.
4.Internship completion
Upon completion of the internship, an international certificate is issued, an official document confirming participation in the program.

https://www.coursera.org/ this site is a free collection of online video courses on a variety of subjects. Its main difference from other analogues is the presence of deadlines for assignments (a kind of homework). So you need to plan very carefully the allocation of time for online training.
The resource already has 111 courses from 17 different universities (so far only foreign), and this list is updated almost every day. The categories of the courses are very different — from the course on quantum mechanics and quantum computing and functional programming in Scala (from its creator Martin Odersky) to the course "How things work" from Professor Louis Bloomfield.
Learn more about the format of training: new lectures are published several times a week, after viewing which you are offered to complete a task. The task evaluation system is different, but one thing is common in all systems — the task must be completed before a certain period, otherwise you will not receive a statement of completion (certificate of completion), just as if you had not passed a certain percentage of tasks. There are also additional tasks that are not checked by anyone, but are very useful for a deeper understanding of the material.
Also, each course has a forum where you can discuss tasks or, for example, incomprehensible moments in lectures with other people. What pleases me is that there are our compatriots in the forums. For each course on its page, you can see the Recommended Background (initial knowledge necessary to understand the course), workload (the time that the authors recommend to set aside for training per week).
Lectures in English. You hear live speech without subtitles, as if you are sitting at a lecture at a real university.
We strongly recommend paying attention to both students and the teaching staff.
