Head of the department. Doctor of Psychological Sciences. Professor.Maria Ivanovna Plugina has been the head of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology and Special Disciplines of StSMU since 2010 to the present.

In 1981 she graduated from the Order of Friendship of Peoples of Stavropol State Pedagogical Institute (later SSU, NCFU) with a degree in "Russian language literature"

In 1990-1992. she was retrained at the Stavropol Regional Institute of Teacher Improvement in the specialty 00.04 - Psychology.

In 2021, she graduated with honors from the master's degree program of the North Caucasus Federal University in the field of training 44.04.02 - "Psychological and pedagogical education" (Practical psychology in education).

The total experience of pedagogical activity of M.I. Plugina is 40 years, the experience of scientific and pedagogical activity is 30 years.

In 1997 , Maria I. Plugina successfully defended her PhD thesis on the topic: "The activity of a practical psychologist on the formation of humane relations in the teaching staff" (specialty ‒ 19.00.07 – pedagogical psychology).

In 2009, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic "Acmeological concept of personal and professional development of higher school teachers" (specialty - 19.00.13 ‒ developmental psychology, acmeology (psychological sciences)).

In the period from 2016 to 2021, she was held at the SSMU, the Moscow State Medical University. Evdokimova (Moscow), GBU DPO "SKIRO PC and PRO" 13 advanced training courses.

She is a member of the editorial board of the journals KANT (included in the list of publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation), "National Health" (included in the list of publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation), "Psychology. Historical and critical reviews and modern research" (included in the list of publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation).

She is a member of the scientific school of Professor V.S. Agapov (Moscow), the expert commission for the evaluation of experimental sites in Stavropol and Stavropol Krai at SCRIPPRO, the Scientific and Methodological Council of StSMU, a corresponding member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, chairman of the UMK of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and the problem-methodological commission for the humanities of the StSMU.

Since 2003, 13 PhD theses have been defended under the guidance of M.I. Plugina. Currently, scientific guidance is provided by 4 graduate students for the preparation of PhD theses and 1 doctoral student.
