Leonid Yakovlevich Klimov graduated with honors from the Pediatric Faculty of the Stavropol State Medical Institute in 1993.

In 1993-1994, he studied at the internship at the Department of Pediatrics of the FUV SSMI.

In 1994, he was accepted as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Propaedeutics of Childhood Diseases, since 1995 – assistant, since 2003 – associate professor of this department.

In parallel with teaching, he worked as a pediatrician and consulted patients at the GBUZ IC "Children's City Clinical Hospital named after G.K. Filippsky", is a doctor of the highest qualification category.

In 1997 he defended his PhD thesis on the problem of food intolerance at an early age (supervisor – MD, Professor G.K. Filippsky).

In July 2012, by order of the rector, he was appointed, in 2013 and 2018, by the Academic Council of StSMU, head of the Department of Faculty Pediatrics.

Currently, he is acting as the chief freelance pediatrician of the Ministry of Health of the Stavropol Territory.

In November 2019, at the Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Professional Education, he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Vitamin D deficiency and its correction in young children in the regions of the Russian Federation" (scientific consultant – Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, MD, Professor I.N. Zakharova).

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor L.Y. Klimov – co-author of textbooks "Propaedeutics of children's diseases" (2012, 2018, 2022), " Polyclinic and emergency pediatrics" (2014, 2019), several textbooks for students and residents on the problems of pediatrics, pediatric nutrition.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor L.Y. Klimov is a member of ESPGHAN (European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology&Nutrition), a member of the Union of Pediatricians of Russia, the Russian Society for the Study of Vitamin D.

Under the guidance of Doctor of Medical Sciences Klimov L.Ya., 8 candidate dissertations have been completed, currently 5 more dissertation studies are being carried out by the staff and graduate students of the department.

Associate Professor Klimov L.Ya. is a member of the editorial boards of the journals "Consilium Medicum. Pediatrics", "Medical Council (Pediatrics), is one of the co-authors of the National Program "Vitamin D Deficiency in children and adolescents in the Russian Federation: modern approaches to correction" (2018, 2021), "Interdisciplinary Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of vitamin D Deficiency in the pre-pregnancy period, during pregnancy and after childbirth" (2020), several monographs. MD, Associate Professor L.Y. Klimov is the author of more than 200 scientific and educational works (Hirsch index 13).
